Beginners Poi Spinning/Fire Dancing Course Outline
During the six week course you will learn a series of moves each week and build upon your knowledge and skill with more challenging moves as the course progresses, linking various moves of different timings and directions, working on your technique and, ultimately your individual style and choreography.
The Beginners Course explores the basic poi moves including various circles and reels in split and parallel time, carry and reel turns, stops and wraps and linking moves; as well as more signature poi moves such as the Butterfly, Angel Wings, Windmill and the Forwards and Backwards Three Beat Weave. Classes are intensive and fun and students leave the course with a solid foundation in spinning.
This course is perfect if you are new to poi spinning or know a few tricks and would like to learn more moves, understand how to link them together, work on your technique and choreography and become a skilled spinner quickly.

Intermediate Poi Spinning/Fire Dancing Course Outline
During the six week course you will learn a variety of more difficult moves that will build upon your knowledge and skill of the basic concepts of poi spinning, as explored in the Beginners Course.
The Intermediate Course is similar to the Beginners Course, in that a concept or set of moves is explored each class; however the emphasis is placed upon the students exploration of the many types of moves within each concept in order to promote the students own flair, style and inventiveness.
This Course explores more challenging poi moves including various reels, turns and takeouts, including signature poi moves such as Flowers, Thread The Needle, the Wiggle, Five Beat Weave and Behind the Back Weave. Classes are creative and challenging and students leave the course with a sophisticated understanding of choreography and spinning.
This course is perfect if you have completed the Beginner Course or are already adept at poi spinning and would like to learn more challenging moves, develop your own spinning style and create your own fire spinning routine/choreography.

September Fire Dancing Performance and Choreography Course (South London) starting on Tuesday, 7th September 2010 (6 week course) Brixton St Vincent Community Base (SW2) Brixton 7.30pm - 9.30pm Course Fee - £85.00
Fire Dancing Performance and Choreography Course Outline
During the six week course you will learn and develop a choreographic sequence with fire poi with the aim of performing this sequence with fire at the completion of the course.
The first four weeks of this course will be conducted at our Brixton Venue (For Venue Details see Contact Page) learning and rehearsing choreographic sequences as well as developing your own spinning sequences using (unlit) fire poi and working with the other members of the group to devise a performance piece. Therefore you must have your own set of Fire Poi from Week One as you will need to rehearse and choreograph with them throughout the course. The final two weeks of the Course, we will be rehearsing and spinning with fire outside - culminating in a Fire Spinning performance on the final night!
This course is perfect if you have completed the Beginners and/or the Intermediate Poi Spinning Course, are adept at spinning and skilled at linking moves and and would like to develop your choreographic skills and be involved in a group fire spinning performance. You DO NOT need to have spun fire before but must have a solid level of confidence and skill as a spinner.

Private Poi Spinning/Fire Dancing Lessons
Sometimes clients require more focused attention and support and are better suited to learning on a one-on-one basis or are unable to make our course due to busy schedules and prefer the freedom of choosing when and where to learn to spin. Private lessons offer you the opportunity to learn at your own pace and clients are given the time and space to fully explore the various spinning concepts within their own timeframe. If you are interested in having either private lessons, or lessons with you and a few friends, we can offer private lessons at a mutually agreed venue.
Private lessons offer the advantage of you being able to choose where and when you spin and we can customise the courses to your exact needs and specifications.

Poi in the Park Jam Sessions
These sessions are free jam sessions open to ALL SPINNERS! These spinning jam sessions are a great chance to meet and socialise with other spinners in a relaxed and friendly setting, learn group choreography and play together.

How to find us - It's about a 2 minute walk from the tube station. Exit Hyde Park Corner Tube to your left and walk upstairs to street level. Enter Hyde Park through the iron gates and cross the road via the zebra crossing. Walk down the path to your left along the walking path (beside the dirt track used for horses). Continue walking past the Rose Garden (to your right with various benches beside the path) until you see some lovely large trees to the right of the path in a beautifull green clearing - That's where we will be!
